Wayne Ford, former Tuscaloosa County Extension System coordinator, was recently inducted into the Alabama Foresters Hall of Fame.

Ford is best known for coaching the Tuscaloosa County Natural Resources Club to 13 national championships in forestry and wildlife competitions. In addition he was cited for numerous accomplishments at the induction ceremony in Auburn on March 30.

Ford also:

•    Helped initiate the Forest Awareness Week Program in Tuscaloosa County in 1994.
•    Was responsible for Tuscaloosa County being selected to host the 2003 All-American Loggin’ Demo.
•    Conducted the annual Tuscaloosa County 4-H Natural Resource Short Course for 30 years.
•    Initiated the Tuscaloosa County 4-H Shooting Sports program.
•    Initiated the American Liberty Elm Restoration Nursery in 1998.
