With higher than normal temperatures and consistent dry conditions, State Foresters nationwide are warning the public to be aware of burn and fireworks bans in their areas.

In Arkansas, State Forester Joe Fox is pleading with county judges to include a ban on fireworks with the burn bans already being implemented. “Under these conditions, any outdoor fire can easily escape control, and containment is difficult,” Fox said. “Our crews suppressed 21 wildfires that burned 915 acres this past weekend alone.”

The Ohio Division of Forestry is urging residents statewide to take special precautions during  dry summer weather. “A lack of rain and increasing high temperatures allow dried grasses, weeds, leaves and crops to become fuels for wildfires…”

In Wyoming, State Forester Bill Crapser asks the public to keep wildfire prevention in mind during 4th of July celebrations. “Many counties have issued fire restrictions, said Crapser.  “Even in those counties that have not issued fire restrictions, residents need to take all precautions when outdoors.”

The Tennessee Division of Forestry is asking the public to refrain from debris burning until significant precipitation is received and to avoid other activities that could cause fire. “Most areas of the state are experiencing very hot and dry conditions with low humidity,” State Forester Steven Scott said. “While permits are not currently required for open, outdoor burning, as a precaution we’re urging citizens to avoid debris burning until conditions improve.”
