Georgia, Florida Record Increased BMP Performance

According to a report in the Southeastern Wood Producers Assn. Out of the Woods publication, both Georgia and Florida loggers and landowners recorded impressive best management practices (BMPs) compliance based on 2023 surveys in both states.
Georgia Forestry Commission Director Tim Lowrimore notes that the 2023 96.8% compliance rate is four points better than the last survey in 2021, and that all categories recorded improvements and are at 90%+ compliance. In Florida, state Forest Service Director Rick Dolan reports 5.5 million acres under the BMP monitoring program, and the most recent BMP Implementation Survey showed a 99.1% overall compliance rate.
