What’s old is now new again. The Louisiana Pacific Mill just south of Thomasville shut down three years ago due to the economy, putting hundreds out of work. Now the hiring begins as the plant gears up for reopening.

“This particular project you don’t have to wait for it to be built. It’s already there it’s ready to go so the jobs are going to virtually have an immediate impact to the economy,” says Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day.

About 150 jobs will be filled in the spring of 2013. These jobs don’t just require manual labor or production experience.

“I am looking for work. I just moved back from Auburn so I’m excited about being able to get back into the work field so maybe I’ll get a job,” says one job-seeker.

Jobs in HR, an environmental engineer, supervisors and other positions are all available. Clarke County has seen a lot of economic growth within the last year and the future looks bright.
