Mississippi Loggers Seek Bridge Grant Program Funds In 2026
Bridges are already being delivered to Mississippi loggers from the 2025 U.S. Forest Service (FS) Temporary Bridge Grant Program, according to a report in the recent Mississippi Logger publication. Last year’s program, applied for by the Mississippi Loggers Assn. (MLA) and partnered with the FS and Mississippi Forestry Commission, was able to allocate more than $550,000 that paid for 32 bridges.
MLA Executive Director David Livingston says he’s applied for the program for 2026 and is still awaiting word on funding. Each grant pays 75% of the cost of a bridge—up to $30,000. The logger is responsible for the remaining amount, plus any tax and freight related to the bridge purchase.
