CARTHAGE, Miss.—Lee Powers is a young fourth generation logger whose tenacity and determination drove him to keep working and overcome the odds despite a medical condition that made his path in life an especially challenging one. Just as he was ready to step out into starting his own business a few years ago, his health worsened, but a new treatment has allowed him to live a more normal life. Now he runs his crew on mostly private land using Tigercat and Deere machines.
