Report: Southeast Longleaf Pine Stands Still Expanding
America’s Longleaf Restoration Initiative recently released its 2021 report on activities to maintain and increase stands of longleaf pine throughout its traditional range across nine states in the Southeast U.S. Activities across all forest ownerships led to the establishment of 135,000 acres of longleaf pine stands in 2021, including 22,000 acres on public lands and112,000 acres on private lands. Florida, Mississippi and Georgia were the top public land longleaf establishment states, and Georgia, Alabama and Florida were the top private land longleaf establishment states. Overall longleaf pine stands in the Southeast total just under 3 million acres.
