Virginia Forestry Assn. Seeks Executive Director

 

 

 

The Virginia Forestry Assn. (VFA), a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to representing Virginia’s diverse forestry community and promoting the sustainable use and conservation of forest resources to ensure their long-term benefits for all Virginians, seeks an Executive Director. The VFA represents the interests of the forestry community as a whole, with the vision of being a unifying voice for Virginia’s forestry community. Its  members include forest landowners, foresters, forest products businesses, loggers, forestry consultants, and a variety of individuals and groups concerned about the future well-being of Virginia’s forest resources.

VFA is seeking a dynamic and engaging leader who is passionate about the conservation and sustainable use of forest resources as a driver of ecological, economic, and social prosperity in Virginia. The Executive Director provides strategic guidance to the Board of Directors, manages the staff, programs, and initiatives of the organization, and leads the achievement of the association’s mission, goals, and objectives.

The Executive Director will manage a staff of two and grow the current budget of $700,000. VFA owns its office building in Richmond, Va.

VFA offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage programs, paid time off, a retirement plan, a cell phone allowance, and professional development opportunities. The annual base salary range starts at $105,000.

Requirements:
—Bachelor’s degree
—Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills
—Demonstrated knowledge of leadership and management principles
—Knowledge of human resources, finance, and foundation management
— At least 10 years experience, with three or more years of senior management experience in a trade association
—Advocacy experience with legislative and governmental agencies
—Experience with the forestry industry is preferred
Qualifications:
— Proven leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and business development skills, including strategy development and implementation
—Ability to work on and manage a variety of projects simultaneously
—Experience developing and coordinating strategic alliances with stakeholders on key issues and working with representatives of varied interests
—Ability to build consensus between groups with differing opinions
—Ability to travel statewide and occasionally outside the Commonwealth to represent VFA
