Virginia Loggers Seek Support For Trucking Bill
The Agriculture and Forestry Hauling Efficiency Act has been introduced in the 119th Virginia General Assembly, which seeks to move trucks hauling unprocessed agricultural products and unrefined forest products from Virginia’s secondary highways to available interstate highways. Introduced by Congressman John McGuire, with its first co-sponsor in Rob Wittman, Virginia Loggers Assn.’s Ron Jenkins applauds the pair for their “foresight to introduce this common sense bill.”
Those interested in helping cause are strongly encouraged to reach out to their Virginia state legislator and ask them to support this critical legislation. Current Virginia law allows 90,000 lb. gross weight to be hauled on secondary roads, and the VLA asserts opening interstate hauling to 90,000 lbs. would be a benefit to all of forest products and agriculture in the state.
